Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Josiah developed a passion for writing and storytelling during his childhood years. Though initially interested in pursuing a career in sports journalism, he shifted his focus to criminal justice issues while at Penn State University. After college and grad school, he spent a couple of years in fellowships at NBC News and ABC News. He then joined TIME Magazine as a news reporter before becoming a staff writer, covering gun violence, policing and criminal justice policy.
