Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Developed a passion for writing and storytelling during his childhood years. Though initially interested in pursuing a career in sports journalism, he shifted his focus to criminal justice issues while at Penn State University. After college and grad school, he spent a couple of years in fellowships at NBC News and ABC News. He then joined TIME Magazine as a news reporter before becoming a staff writer, covering gun violence, policing and criminal justice policy. He’s continuing that coverage today as an enterprise reporter at The Grio.

His first book about the surge in gun violence during the COVID pandemic is expected to be published by Johns Hopkins University Press in 2024.
